@ Reno & Smiley@MySpace.com :With a smooth and mellow baritone, Smiley made a perfect partner to Reno, singing lead to his high harmony part. Among Reno’s compositions are the exquisite “Emotions” as well as “Feuding Banjos,” the unforgettable song in the film Deliverance, co-written with Arthur “Guitar Boogie” Smith.
@ Birthplace of Country Music Alliance : They played on radio programs in South Carolina but had difficulty obtaining show dates. In 1952, they went to Cincinnati and recorded 16 numbers for King, but due to continued rough times, the band broke up before the first record was released.
@ Amazon.co.uk :At the peak of their popularity, the duo also hosted Top of the Morning, a hit daily television show which ran for some seven years. However, in 1964 diabetes forced Smiley to retire from the road, and in late 1966 Reno began a new partnership with singer/multi-instrumentalist Bill Harrell which continued for a decade.
