@ The Pied Pipers :In April 1940, the Doresey Orchestra combined with the historic pairing of Frank Sinatra and the Pieds Pipers struck gold with their song, one of America legendary hits, I’ll Never Smile Again.
@ Singers.com :In 1942 The Pied Pipers broke away from Dorsey, and Huddleston joined the army, to be replaced by Hal Hopper, one of the original eight members. The group backed Johnny Mercer on several tracks during the early 40s, including “Candy” and “Blues in the Night.”
@ it’s that Fabulous Foursome of the Forties! :In November 1942 they leave Dorsey after a quarrel at the railway station. By this time they are a well-known entity and head for Hollywood where they secure radio work and… a recording contract!
